Annotate the Easy Way

Being able to annotate a text is a skill kids absolutely need to master. By the way, annotating just means taking notes on a text. However, getting kids to annotate can be difficult. In the video below, I show you an app I use and love for annotating. This app will take the fear away and help your student become an awesome annotator! And one of the best things about this app is that it's FREE!

Isn't Teaching Writing with Examples Cheating?

Using examples to teach writing is a really helpful way for our kids to get their footing. When our kids are learning the basics of math, we work through examples and model how to put the "pieces" together. It's the same with writing. Use examples when you can to show your kids the end product, and just like when they learned how to do addition and subtraction, they'll soon be writing on their own.

Teach Analysis the Easy Way

Analyzing engages and builds critical thinking skills. Analysis is the foundation upon which clear thinking and communication are constructed. By practicing analysis, our kids utilize cognitive processes (work and build mental muscles) that help them think clearly so that their ability to communicate verbally or in written responses becomes richer and fuller. This skill is vital to a child’s education, and education is vital to a child’s success.
